Vomiting is a natural thing in the first trimester of pregnancy. Hormonal changes cause problems like nausea and vomiting. If your vomiting is normal then there is nothing to panic about. In severe/critical condition nausea and vomiting is known as Hyperemesis Gravidarum (HG), and often needs hospital treatment.

Causes & Symptoms

What are the signs and symptoms of gestational Hyperemesis Gravidarum (HG)?

If you’re pregnant and,

  • You become So much dehydrated,
  • 3 to 4 times Vomiting per dayor more,
  • You lose so much weight, morethan 4.5 k.g.,
  • You're dizzy and lightheaded as a result.

Important Tips

1. About Food

  • Eat simple food. Avoid eating spicy and oily food. Acidity increases by eating like this.
  • Don't stay hungry for a long time. Instead of eating heavy food 3 times a day, eat in small doses and light food 6 times.
  • You must have breakfast.
  • Keep glucose biscuits, toast, etc. dry things on your bed and when you wake up in the morning, eat these first, lie down again for 20 to30 minutes, and then wake up. This will reduce the amount of acid in your stomach, which will help you to reduce nausea in the morning.
  • Do not eat strong-smelling foods like ingredients with garlic.
  • Don't eat too much fried, floury food, fast food etc. It takes time too long to digest.

2. About Liquid

  • Take a moderate amount of drinks like lemonade, juice, water, etc. between two meals. If vomiting is more, then keep taking ORS solution or Glucon D, apple, etc. fruit juice in between, so that the electrolyte balance of the body is maintained and dehydration does not occur.
  • Do not drink a lot of water in one go, but keep drinking little by little throughout the day while sipping.
  • Do not drink water immediately before eating and for 1hour after eating.

3. About Life Style

  • When you get up from bed in the morning, don't get up with one jerk, get up slowly.
  • Be sure to brush and rinse after eating. Due to hormonal changes, a lot of salivae is produced in the mouth due to which you feel nauseous again and again.
  • You have to pay attention to the color of your urine, if it is clear or light yellow, then it is okay. If it is dark yellow, then it means that there is a lack of water in your body, so keep taking liquid regularly.
  • Don't sleep immediately after eating food. Have to walk for a while.
